Big Bend Glamping

This was definitely a fun and different kind of experience that I have done. I have seen a lot of people staying in these dome tents, and I have always said I wanted to experience it for myself. This weekend, I was able to do just that. The Big Bend Glamping is located right outside Big Bend National Park, and it has so much to offer for the perfect outdoor getaway. I would definitely come back for another Big Bend adventure!

Lee and his wife Melanie, were exseptional hosts and they were both very helpful for tips on the property and Big Bend National Park.

Getting around

GENERAL DRIVING TIPS FOR THE BIG BEND REGION: - Make sure you know where you’re going before you leave the WiFi. There’s a good chance you won’t have any internet or cell phone coverage once you leave. - If you’re using Google Maps coming from Alpine, make sure you plug it in before leaving town. Once you get a couple miles south of Alpine, you will most likely lose coverage for the next 80 miles or so. Google Maps will keep working if it’s already running. - Drive slow on dirt/rock roads. There are a number of well maintained unpaved roads in the area. Just take it slow, you’ll be fine in any vehicle. - Don’t be annoyed by the distances. Just enjoy the most beautiful scenery you’ll ever drive through. Big Bend isn’t close to anything, so you’re going to do some driving. - Always take water with you in the car, no exceptions. - Download songs/audiobooks/podcasts to your phone beforehand. You won’t have coverage to stream from your phone and their isn’t much radio coverage either once you drive south of Alpine. DISTANCES FROM THE “BIG BEND GLAMPING” PROPERTY TO VARIOUS AREA LOCATIONS: - Highway 118 (the main highway you’ll take from Alpine): 6 miles - Terlingua Ranch Lodge and Bad Rabbit Cafe: 10 miles - Little Burro Country Store: 11 miles - Entrance to Big Bend National Park: 25 miles - Terlingua: 26 miles - Lajitas: 39 miles - Big Bend Ranch State Park: 39 miles - Alpine (last real town before going south into Big Bend): 67 miles
