Out of State Planning Tips

I have driven all over Texas in the past few years, but what I love most, is exploring new states. Flying to a new state can take a little more planning and research. Since I still have a 9-5 job, most of my trips are only 3 to 5 days. I am the type of traveler that likes to fit as much as I can within the time I am at that destination.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning an out-of-state trip.

Research

Check Hopper for the cheapest flights and even watch flight prices to ensure you get the cheapest flight. I also jump on Skyscanner.com or Google Flights to match pricing and flight times.

Flights

If I am flying out for the weekend, I usually fly out Thursday night and return Monday. I have noticed that if you return on a Monday or Tuesday, it is usually cheaper than Sunday.

Rental Car

AutoEurope is a lifesaver! They have the cheapest rental car options and I have had the best experience with them. Be sure to reserve in advance to secure a car.

Itinerary

I always use Wanderlog when I am planning trips, especially out of state trips. You can add your flights, rental car, and hotel/Airbnb to your itinerary, so everything is in one place.
