Pisgah National Forest

Growing up, my family would camp at the Davidson River campgrounds within Pisgah National Forest. It was always my favorite place to visit, and it had been roughly 11 years since I had been back. Being away for a few days enjoying nature and the simplicity of life was what I needed. Sometimes it’s nice to step out of the world and focus on yourself. I have really enjoyed these past few days hiking, sitting by the camp fire and enjoying time with my family for Thanksgiving.

We camped at the Davidson River Campgrounds, right on the river and near the best fishing spots! The weather was probably the most interesting part of this trip. At night the temperature dropped to 22 degrees and during the day the high was in the 50s. Most definitely the coldest trip I have experience and I learn a lot about how to stay warm.

Pisgah National Forest is a land of mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls, and heavily forested slopes. Comprised of over 500,000 acres, the Pisgah is primarily a hardwood forest. Pisgah is located just outside of Asheville, North Carolina and boarders the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Even tho the Davidson River Campgrounds are our favorite, here are other places to stay!
