The Ultimate Guide to Exploring Breckenridge

At Breckenridge Resort, you can take a ride on the Gondola which takes you down the mountain. This ride is free and makes three stops before reaching the parking lot at the bottom of the mountain. It's a relaxing journey with stunning views of all the mountain peaks. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary while visiting Breckenridge!

Relax in the Hot Tub

After an adventurous day of snowboarding, taking a dip in a hot tub or heated pool can be the perfect way to unwind and soothe your muscles. Fortunately, most hotels and lodges offer these amenities on their premises, allowing you to indulge in a relaxing soak without having to venture far from your accommodation. Whether you want to enjoy the warmth of the bubbling water while gazing at the starry night sky or prefer to soak in the daytime sun, these facilities are usually available for use at any time of the day. So, after a long cold day on the slopes, don't miss out on the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rejuvenating waters of a hot tub or heated pool.

Frisco Adventure Park

What an experience! If you plan a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, visit the Frisco Adventure Park. It's a fun and affordable experience!

Ensure that you make reservations in advance.

The park requires online reservations, which cost $30 per person and include tub access. At the main lodge, there's seating by a nice fireplace where you can rest and relax. You can also enjoy snacks and hot cocoa.

To start, you'll watch a safety video before grabbing a tube. You don't need to walk up the hill each time, as a lift takes you to the top. You can go down alone or with up to two friends.

I suggest wearing eye protection to see where you're going and remember to wear your snow jacket to stay warm. You can easily fit six rides into an hour, so don't hesitate to grab a tube and enjoy the fun!

Skiing and Snowboarding

Breckenridge is a popular destination because of its skiing and snowboarding opportunities. The town boasts four peaks, with Peak 8 and Peak 9 being the most popular. During our visit, we went snowboarding on Peak 9, which is less crowded but still has high traffic. Peak 9 has a learning center with small slopes that are perfect for beginners to practice and get comfortable.

Parking

Many hotels and lodges offer shuttles to transport you to the main base of the peak, thereby saving you the trouble of finding parking. Additionally, there are several locations in Breckenridge where the trolley bus picks up skiers and takes them to and from their destination. Another option is to park in one of the designated parking lots and walk to the base.

Rental Gear

If you're a first-timer planning to go skiing, renting gear is the easiest way to get everything you need in one place. Renting gear is also more cost-efficient if you're not an active skier and don't own any gear. Gear rentals start at $55 per person, and the cost varies based on the type of gear you rent. Renting gear from Breck Sports at the Maggie is a good option since they offer boots, helmets, and skis/snowboard and are known for their helpful and friendly service. There are many other places in Breckenridge to rent gear from as well.

Don't forget to purchase your lift tickets in advance to save money.

Lift Tickets

For in-season skiing, lift tickets cost between $180 to $270 per person and include access to the Chair Lift.

Shopping

I enjoy visiting touristy stores that have unique souvenirs and postcards, and I found Breckenridge's shopping areas to be reasonably priced. Some may avoid visiting touristy stores. However, I enjoy it because I am supporting local stores.

I went shopping and found some cute things. Also, I added a few postcards to my collection. Main St in Breckenridge has a great mix of high-end stores and affordable knick-knack shops. It's perfect for any traveler looking for a wide range of options.

Sip on Hot Coco

When I travel to a cold destination, I always look forward to sipping on hot cocoa. There's nothing quite like watching the snow fall while my marshmallows melt. There are several options for hot cocoa in Breckenridge. I tried hot cocoa at I Scream Gelato on Main St. This was a cute little ice cream shop with an arcade room in the back.

"The Crown" is a cozy hangout that has a warm, wood-accented decor. They serve a variety of coffee, baked goods, sandwiches, and cocktails.

Robbie's Tavern offers a superior guest experience with upscale comfort food, craft beer, handcrafted cocktails, and world-class wines.

Another adorable spot to check out is Mountain Top Hot Chocolate Shop.

When it comes to breweries in Breckenridge, Breckenridge Brewery should be at the top of your list. We had a great experience there, enjoying delicious food and a flight of beer.

Don't forget to check out the breweries' happy hour, where you can enjoy some live music and a relaxing atmosphere.

Here are some alternative options available in the Breckenridge area.
